Recovering from the Freeze – Erik Kondo

This video illustrates:

COMMENT by Erik Kondo

1. The target is momentarily frozen by the unexpected attack. The freeze is a natural response. It takes her a few moments, but she is able to start fighting back. She gains momentum and is able to force her attacker to retreat.

2. The attacker failed to finish the attack when he had the initial opportunity and as a result his attack ultimately failed.

3. Having an instinctive/trained response that “protects you” while you break the freeze is an important self-protection concept.
Much of the “Flinch” relies on this concept.

4. Notice that aggressiveness and repeated striking carried the day.
